Today is the Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 22nd, 2024. This week we light all four advent candles. We prepare for the coming of the Lord with Mary’s words of faith and joy in the “Magnificat” or Song of Mary in today’s Gospel reading.
This week our young people will provide a special Christmas Program. There will only be one worship service this week, beginning at 10:00 AM. There will be a reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Here is the link to the video for today’s service.
And we would love to have you join us, either in person or virtually, for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, Tuesday, December 24th at 7:00 PM. There will be special music starting at 6:30 PM.
This week we light the rose-colored Advent candle, representing joy.
What joys do you have? Sometimes we forget to take time to pause and reflect on all the gifts we have been given in this life. This week especially, rejoice!
During this second week of Advent, we focus on preparing for the coming of the Lord. We hear of John the Baptist, the “voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord”.
As we today prepare for the coming of Christmas by shopping for presents, baking cookies, writing cards, we should take time to reflect on the coming baby, the coming sacrifice. To prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of the Lord.
Today is Christ the King Sunday, November 24th, 2024. We celebrate the Kingship of Christ and his eventual return in glory on this last Sunday in the liturgical year.
Here are the Readings and Announcements for this week.
In today’s First Reading and Gospel Lesson, we see two women, at Zarephath (1 Kings 17:8-16) and at the Temple treasury (Mark 12:38-44). Both are widows. Both are poor. Yet both have great faith and give all they have to God.
Compared to these two women, we all have so much. And yet, when all is said and done, do they have more? Only you can answer that question for yourself. Consider it well.
