This week we read again the words of Isaiah and take heart. “But those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength, they shall mount up like wings of eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

In this week’s second reading we hear the words of Paul telling the Corinthians that “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.” Let us each follow God’s example lead with love.

As we enter into 2021, we hear again the words of John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” Hold fast to that light in these dark times. Hold fast to Christ.

In this week’s Gospel, we hear the stories of Simeon and Anna and their encounters with the child Jesus in the temple in Jerusalem. We each encounter Christ in our own way and in our own time. May we each see with our hearts, not just our eyes, praising God and looking for the promise of things to come.
