On Saturday, July 24th from 10:00 to 12:00 AM we will be hosting a drive through drop off opportunity for anyone wishing to contribute to First Lutheran’s 8th annual Undies for Everyone campaign.
We’ll be under the canopy by the main entrance. Collection baskets will also be available in the Narthex and by the mailboxes on Sunday mornings.
Today is June 27th, the 5th Sunday after Pentecost.
Here are the Readings and Announcements for this week. Please take note of the announcements about Piecemakers Quilting Group restarting, upcoming Fellowship events, the Food for Life Ministry and Undies for Everyone drives that are currently underway, and the upcoming Scout Rummage Sale.
In this week’s Gospel lesson we hear the story of the young daughter of Jairus who Christ raised from death, and of the woman healed from hemorrhages by her faith. Both miracles. Some say we don’t have miracles today, but we do! The laughter of a child. The rains that bring crops and flowers and rainbows. A vaccine to stop a pandemic. God brings us miracles, we just need the eyes to see them.
Here are the main announcements for this week, along with special announcements about the upcoming Scouts Rummage Sale and the Undies for Everyone drive:
Today is Sunday, June 13, the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost.
Here are today’s Readings and Announcements. This week we have two special announcements about the upcoming Scouts Rummage Sale and the Undies for Everyone drive in cooperation with Meridian Kiwanis and Sans Souci.
In this week’s readings, Paul writes to the Corinthians that “we walk by faith, not by sight”. This week, let the eyes of faith, the eyes of your heart lead you in all you do.
There will be no live streaming of the Second Service this week as the videographer is on vacation.
In today’s second reading,we hear the words of Paul to the Corinthians, “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with human hands, eternal in the heavens.”
77 years ago today, the Allied landings in Normandy were the beginning of the end of the Second World War. Many lives were lost. Many earthly tents destroyed. We pray for wisdom and guidance that those lives, and so many more lives lost since then, were not lost in vain.
Today is Sunday, May 30th, 2021, the Sunday we celebrate The Holy Trinity.
It is also Memorial Day weekend, when we remember all those who served so that we all might live in peace and freedom. We especially remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in that service.
In this week’s Gospel readings from John, we hear again the words of Jesus and the great promise of love and redemption, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.”
The Holy Spirit comes whether we like it or not. The Spirit of Truth speaks, whether we want to believe it at first or not. Whether in a violent wind, or with tongues of fire, or that small, nagging voice of concern, the Spirt comes.
In this week’s Gospel Reading from John, we hear Christ’s words to God the Father, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” As we still today struggle to know what is truth, we know that God’s word is the truth we need. The word of forgiveness. Of grace. Of love.
In this week’s Gospel reading we hear the words of Jesus giving us a new, very simple, yet oh so difficult commandment. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12.
This Sixth Sunday in Easter, let us all recommit to following that commandment. Listen closely to your hearts. Reach out with love.
