Worship Services and Readings for Sunday, March 14th

In this week’s readings we hear again the words of Paul in his letter to the Corinthians: “For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.” These next few weeks/months of the pandemic may be the hardest as we long for a return to “normal” but still need to take appropriate precautions. Hold fast to God’s strength and wisdom, and keep listening to doctors, scientists, and all those working to keep us all safe.

As we continue our Lenten journey this week, let us hear Jesus words in this week’s gospel lesson and set our minds on divine things. As the first signs of spring surround us, let us take a moment to enjoy the small, divine blessings. The song of a bird, the smile of a friend, the beauty of a sunset.

This week we read again the words of Isaiah and take heart. “But those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength, they shall mount up like wings of eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Today’s Gospel tells of Christ calling the fishermen to follow him and “fish for people”. Is there anyone you know who could use a word of support, of comfort, of love? Get fishing!
